Auditory Perception (AP)  Auditory perception is the ability to hear likenesses and differences in sounds – common sounds, beginning sounds, rhyming sounds and ending sounds. Before a young learner can accurately perceive the fine differences between 'short e' and short i,' auditory discrimination practice is needed.

Auditory Memory (AM) Auditory memory is the ability to recall sounds, words and information heard. Attention to the spoken word and following oral directions are strengthened with practice. After students are able to follow simple one-part and two-part directions, the complexity of the directions may be increased.
