HOSTS Winning in the Beginning Developmental Screening Tool
All kindergarten and Transition First students are evaluated using the HOSTS Winning in the Beginning Developmental Screening tool. This assessment includes a series of performances each student completes, which serve to identify the child’s developmental range. Ranges identified by this tool are ages four-five, five-six, and six-seven. The assessment includes the mental and physical processes of conceptual development, language development, visual motor performance, auditory memory, auditory perception, visual memory, and visual perception. Each strand is evaluated independently, which provides information that may be used to create a personalized instructional plan for each student.
