Language Development (LD)
– Language development is the ability to accumulate and articulate meaningful vocabulary to express thought. Early language development occurs while listening to others speak and experiencing opportunities that stimulate language usage. Learning to describe simple objects, to define basic words and to relate words and pictures will increase the young learner's understanding and use of meaningful vocabulary.Conceptual Development (CD)
– Conceptual development is the intellectual process of developing new ideas by pulling together past and present experiences and thoughts. This ability to form new concepts is preceded by concrete experiences in motor and perceptual activities. Identifying cause and effect, classifying objects into categories and describing how items are alike or different will strengthen conceptual development.
